Song #1: They All Come Around (1986)

This is a fun song to kick off the blog.

My father drew this great picture of a bar scene in 1958

It hung prominently in the living room of the house I grew up in along side my mother's artwork, and is etched into my young hive mind forever.

We started writing this song with a really funny first verse, and then became stymied composing the rest of the lyrics. Damon Leigh swooped in and saved the day, and wrote the second and third verse. Voila: a defiant song under a smooth veneer.

I love open tunings...

They All Come Around

Lips and legs and nylons on
Blowing out all lights
She's left a note that says she's gone
To her mother's for the night
She drives to where the searchlights are
It turns out to be a furniture store

They all come around
They all crawl by sooner or later
They all come around

I contemplate on her vacant state
As a knock comes through my door
Hello old friend, did I know you when
I was hurt and you were sore
Now you're back again, but I don't know when
What was less has left me more

They all come around
They all crawl by sooner or later
They all come around

I won't count the cost of what's lost as lost
Screw that losing attitude
I'll just wait a while for a change of style
As I boost my altitude
And I'll be flying high on the by and by
You'll be cooking in the nude
